The Lottery Alliance Pool Rules

Members can join OPEN POOLS until 3 pm Central Time (Chicago, USA) on the Date of Drawing, unless otherwise specified in a "Jackpot Announcement" email distribution list.

Please Read Carefully: Sending your contribution will be verification that you have read and agree with the group rules, below, for any pools you choose to join with The Lottery Alliance.

The Pool: Players who join in the Group Play of The Lottery Alliance agree to abide by the following pool rules. If you have questions before you join any lottery pool, send your inquiry to info@lotteryalliance.com.

Contributions: There is a Minimum Contribution of $11 (USD)  for any player to join a pool of The Lottery Alliance, with a Maximum Contribution of $21 (USD) during any Play Period. Tickets are purchased for the pool dollar-for-dollar, however, an additional $1.00 is assessed for each $10 to $20 pool contribution to offset the usual and normal transfer fees charged by PayPal. Members can join a Play Period during any active draw date at any time up to the designated deadline on the date of the lottery draw.

How to Make a Contribution: Contributions are made via PayPal.com. Members do not need to have a PayPal account, however, we suggest that you set up your own PayPal account because it is a proven, safe and secure online transaction service. You can enroll at PayPal.com.
   VERY IMPORTANT
   1.  Click on the "Send Payment" tab at the PayPal website.
   2.  Use kvenner@tx.rr.com or kvenner@lotteryalliance.com in the "To:" section.
   3.  Include your email address, which will be used for your receipt of the contribution amount.
   4. Put in the total amount of your contribution in U.S. Dollars (USD).
   5.  Click the button to indicate a purchase of "Services" and then "Continue."
   6. In the "Notes" section, indicate the Pool Number and Amount for the contribution(s).

        See Examples below:

$11 for PB 0708-071809 or $11 for PB will work, as well

$21 for MM 0626-070709 or $21 for MM will be sufficient

NOTE: If you do not designate the Pool Number or for any contribution, the Team Captain can add the amount to the next drawing, at his discretion, split the contribution or withhold the amount until an email response is received from the member making the contribution. Please indicate, at least, the initials of the lottery associated with your contribution - MM for Mega Millions or PB for Powerball, etc.

Late Contributions: Money received after the designated deadline on the date of the drawing may still be included in the pool at the discretion of the Team Captain. Members sending a late contribution, that is included in the pool's ticket purchase, will receive a confirmation email and verification of their pro rata ownership share of the group's winnings.

Play Periods: Each lottery pool, unless specified otherwise, will run for Four (4) Consecutive Drawings, and ticket purchases utilize the "multi-draw" or "advance draw" features of the respective lottery in which the pool participates during a Play Period.  Players can join an open pool at any time during an active Play Period. Most lottery games have two drawings each week, so a Play Period of four consecutive drawings will cover a 2-week period and conclude with one or more Bonus Draws. EuroMillions, the Canadian Super 7 or other big jackpot lotto games will be played from time to time and will have Play Periods of up to 4-weeks.

Bonus Draws: During most Play Periods, there are winning tickets held by the pool. At the end of a Play Period, winning tickets will be redeemed for prize money and additional chances will be bought for the pool members. If winnings for any pool total more than a $1,000 during a Play Period, members will be given the option to take their pro rata share in cash or continue playing in the pool with those players who choose to convert their winnings into a new Play Period. Any new Play Period started with cash winnings from a previous Play Period is available only to those players who choose to NOT take the cash winnings and, rather, select to use their prize winnings to purchase additional chances. Each contributing pool member will always maintain the same pro rata ownership share of any prize winnings during a Bonus Draw that the player owns during the regular Play Period for which the Bonus Draw is held.

Bonus Draw Pool: The Bonus Draw for a particular Play Period may, or may not, purchase chances in the lottery game originally played by the group. If the lottery jackpot for which the pool formed is won and drops below $25 million, the Team Captain may opt to use the prize winnings to purchase chances in another lottery game with a jackpot of $25 million or more for the team's Bonus Draw. Members always maintain the same pro rata share in a Bonus Draw that they owned during the regular Play Period regardless of the lotto game played by the team.

Distribution: Prize Distribution to players will be on a pro rata basis, according to the contribution amount made by each member. For instance, a member contributing $20 to a pool will receive twice the amount of prize money distributed to a player who contributes only $10 to the group play. Total prize winnings of $1,000 or less will be used to buy additional chances for the pool's existing members. All members maintain their same pro rata share in chances purchased with prize winnings as the pro rata share owned during the regular Play Period.

NOTE: For winnings during a Play Period that total more than $1,000, pool members will be given the option to take their pro rata cash share, or to join a new Play Period started with the cash winnings. Players who take their pro rata prize in a cash distribution will not be able to participate in any new pool that may be started by members that decide to roll their winnings into a new Play Period. A new Play Period started with winnings of $1,000 or more will be available only to those pool members who participated in the origianl winning tickets and this pool will not be open for new members to join.

Pool Size: Each Pool will be limited to 100 contributing participants. If demand warrants, the jackpot captain may start a new and separate lottery pool.  If a new pool is started for any lottery jackpot, existing members will be given the option to make an additional contribution to join the new group of players.

Tickets: Chances purchased will be scanned and posted online for viewing prior to each draw.

Shares: Members’ ownership shares in a pool will be available online and players will also be emailed a copy of the spreadsheet  showing their approximate, respective pro rata distribution for any lottery winnings.

Jackpot Distribution: For winnings of $100,000 or more, a Trust Attorney will be utilized to collect the prize winnings and to make the pro rata distribution to pool members. By using a trust account to collect lottery winnings, players will have the option to remain anonymous. No top jackpot prize will be claimed by a pool until a majority of team members meet and consult with legal and financial counselors qualified to advise the team members on financial planning and tax laws regarding the lottery winnings. The jackpot will be collected in a lump sum cash value amount by a legal Group Trust that will be created prior to collection of the prize winnings. The Trust Manager will make the pro rata distribution to members.

Publicity: The Lottery Alliance reserves the right to publicize any and all winnings of its group play. However, The Lottery Alliance will respect the privacy of those members who wish to remain anonymous. Depending on the lottery, some jurisdictions, may require that winners' names to be disclosed to lottery authorities, so The Lottery Alliance will adhere to lottery statutes and maintain members' privacy whenever possible to do so.

Additional Contributions: Additional contributions up to the maximum amount designated for a pool of The Lottery Alliance is allowed during an active Play Period and can be made up to the last draw date of the pool’s Regular Play Period. The cut-off time for contributions is 3 p.m. CDT (US) on the date of a draw unless stated otherwise on the website or in an announcement email to the members' distribution list.

Contact: Communication will be via email and the team website at www.LotteryAlliance.com.
